Some comments – all received in the last twelve months – from appreciative short-staying Residents and Residents’ relations, and a visitor’s observations.
This is a note from the son of a lady who enjoyed coming to us for one week each month, which was also to give her devoted son a well-earned rest. The lady also enjoyed a stroll down to the Fox & Hounds next door for a morning coffee, and liked to time her weekly stays to coincide with our themed monthly Residents’ Dinners:-
“Just a short note to say how grateful I am for all the kindness and care given to Mum during her stays with you. She truly loved them and looked forward to her breaks with you. She always commented on how lovely the rooms and beautiful grounds were and that trip to the coast in her last summer made her year. Please extend my kindest regards to all the staff who knew her...” Jan. 2011
These are extracts from two letters received from the family of a gentleman who stayed with us for a short-term stay – he was obviously a little discerning about his food!:-
“Very many thanks to you and all at Coxbench Hall for the exemplary care and attention given to [name withheld] during his stay with you. He had nothing but praise for you all and even the food!!“
“To All Staff: Just a little note to show our appreciation of the excellent care that our Dad received over the last couple of months. Every member of staff carried out duties over and above our expectations. The Care Home and staff are exemplary. We would not hesitate to recommend to others. Once again – Thank you for all your support.” Jan. 2011From a letter received from the son of a lady who had been staying with us on a permanent basis:-

An extract from a letter received from the son of a lady who was staying on a permanent basis:-
“I wish to thank all concerned at Coxbench for the kindness and love extended to [name withheld] during her three year residence at the Hall. We received a letter from the Mayor of Amber Valley (Civic Year 2011/12) who kindly opened our Garden Party:-
"I wish to thank you and your staff for the warm welcome and hospitality when Nancy and I attended your Garden Party on Sunday, 10th July 2011. Thank you for allowing us to look around your residential home, which we found to be exceptional. I spoke to many residents who were very happy with the facilities and service provided by the Home. The grounds were beautifully kept, and this is a credit to you and all your staff. Please convey our thanks to the catering staff and to those who provided the excellent entertainment, which made our afternoon most enjoyable.” July. 2011
On a greetings card received from the family of a lady who really wasn’t very well at all and unfortunately moved to a nursing home. The family were with us at the Home on many occasions, and became “part of the furniture” for the time their mother was here:-
"...It was lovely to join in the banter in the conservatory at dinner times and having a giggle with the residents. Thank you for all of the care and good wishes for Mum. We know she has really loved being with you.” Aug. 2011
On a greetings card received from the daughter of a lady who lived at Coxbench Hall for ten years:-
"Thank you very much for the excellent care you have given my mother [name withheld] over the past ten years. My Mum soon settled in, and grew to love you all. She was very appreciative of all the kindness you showed her, and all the help you gave. Thank you also for making my family and me feel so welcome and part of the Coxbench family.” Nov. 2011
It is a sad fact of life that, sometimes, the reason someone leaves our Home is because they have passed away. On All Souls’ Day in November each year, if there have been any bereavements, we invite the relatives of those who have passed away during the previous twelve months to a short Service held in the Home where we remember our departed friends.
